Pool Fence Requirements in Ottawa
In Ottawa, any outdoor pool or hot tub that can hold 600 mm of water or more must have a compliant pool enclosure before water is allowed to remain in it. A pool enclosure permit is required, even if there is already a fence around the yard.
Pool fences must be at least 1.5 m high, with openings small enough to prevent access by young children. Gates must be self-closing, self-latching, and lockable. Above-ground pools and hot tubs have their own specific requirements, and temporary enclosures may be required during construction.
