Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kevin (owner) was great to chat with, and he delivered exactly what we discussed and agreed on. He had a great crew that was super friendly and respectful of my neighbours. I was also impressed that they were working in the snow when they installed the first option of the fence.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kevin and his team offered excellent after purchase support. Our fence was damaged by snow falling off the roof. After assessing the situation, the fence was repaired faster than I could notice. Emailed to schedule the repair only to find out, it had previously been repaired to its original state. Amazing job team!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I couldn’t be happier with the work Kevin, Dany, and their entire team did at my house. Kevin was wonderful to deal with, and Dany and his team did an excellent job! From start to finish, they were absolutely fantastic. The quality of their work is excellent, and they truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was done properly and to a very high standard. They definitely exceeded my expectations. What impressed me just as much as the quality of the work was how friendly, professional, respectful, and reliable the entire team was. Everyone was a pleasure to deal with, and I felt completely comfortable having them work on my home. It is clear that Kevin cares about his customers. I highly recommend K. Joly to anyone looking for excellent workmanship and a team you can trust. I would absolutely hire them again for future projects!

From the first meeting with Kevin to the last board that was put in place, everything was professional. The job site cleaned up and left better than it was found by his great crew.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is a long overdue review I should have done about a month ago as soon a my project was finished. I have no words to describe the level of excellence I experienced dealing with K. Joly. Since we started to entertain the idea last fall and we engaged them, Marinna was amazing, knowledgeable, professional and caring to the point of advising us against some potential upgrades we wanted to donin the front porch as they would compromise the concrete slab in the long run despite being this a slight decrease in the project scope. All the admin was incredibly smooth, all our questions where answered very professionally and patiently by Kevin and Marinna. When the time finally came we got the absolute cherry of the pie, our permanently dedicated crew composed by Anton and Jorge, with some help from a machinery operator a few days and another folk on one day but Anton and Jorge set the bar to a level I doubt some one can ever surpass it. Incredibly professional, polite, considerate of the impact in the surroundings, sooooooo attentive to details, didn't rush once but kept moving all the time working long days. Always so receptive to our feedback and always discussed all options to reach the best solution with our satisfaction in mind. This is absolute value we received, we could not be happier about how every dollar invested in this project translated into premium quality workmanship and materials providing a very much needed upgrade for our property. Looking at how deep they dug and how much substrate was dumped and how it was carefully and methodically packed, and then the top layer, I highly doubt I will ever need to use their unbeatable warranty. We had our driveway paved as well with a subcontractor that did a good job, but after dealing with Kevin, Anton, Jorge and Marinna, all I have to say to them is get in the paving business as well! If you keep those standards and specially the kind of employees I dealt with, you'll be absolutely unbeatable!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had our entire fence and landscaping redone, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. The team was professional, reliable, and clearly took pride in their work from start to finish. The fence looks solid and well-built, and the landscaping completely changed the look of the property. They showed up when they said they would, kept the job site organized, and paid attention to the little details that really made the final result stand out. It’s rare to find a company that delivers exactly what they promise, but they absolutely did. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality fence work, landscaping, and a crew that actually cares about the finished product.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had 6 posts of our fence come down in a storm and were in a tough position as our dog needs the back yard. I reached out to KJoly Contracting and was quickly provided a fair quote that beat the other 2 that I had gotten from competitors. The crew arrived on time and completed the work efficiently while being very cautious not to damage my property. I was impressed that they did not try and upsell me or add hidden fees. The cost was exactly what I was quoted. Quality work, a very fair price and great communication. Highly recommend.

Reasons to Use Artificial Turf

Artificial turf is a great fit when you want a clean, finished look that stays consistent through heavy use and changing seasons—without the ongoing upkeep of a natural lawn.

A uniform, “always-green” look that holds its appearance through the season.
No mowing, and typically far less watering than a traditional lawn.
Great for yards and common spaces that get worn down—synthetic systems are designed to handle heavy use and stay playable/usable when natural turf would thin out.
Works well where natural grass is hard to maintain due to site limitations or intensity of use (for example, compacted zones or challenging conditions).
Instant finished surface that looks tidy right away—ideal when you want a polished result without waiting for seed to establish.

Quick expectation-setter: artificial turf can get much hotter than natural grass in direct summer sun, and it still benefits from occasional brushing and debris removal to keep it looking its best.

Best Time to Install Artificial Turf

In Ottawa, artificial turf can be installed through most of the year as long as the ground is workable and dry enough to excavate, grade, and compact a proper base.

Best window: from spring thaw through late fall, when the ground is workable and you can build/compact a proper sub-base.
Avoid frozen ground: if the base is frozen, excavation and compaction become unreliable, and you won’t get the stable foundation the turf system needs.
Avoid sloppy mud / heavy rain days: the sub-base needs to be shaped and compacted (often in lifts), and seaming/infill is best done when conditions are dry and controlled.
Temperature matters: many installation manuals recommend installing turf when temperatures are about 10°C or higher.

Prep for Putting Green by K. Joly Contracting Ottawa

Prep is Key

Artificial turf looks its best (and stays that way) when the base underneath it is built properly. That’s why we focus heavily on site prep—removing organic material, building a stable, well-drained base, and finishing the edges and seams cleanly before the final infill is applied.

Here’s what our team handles before the turf goes down:

We remove sod, roots, and other organic material so the surface underneath doesn’t decompose and settle over time.
We install and compact an aggregate base to create a smooth, stable foundation and shape the grade for drainage. (This is a core requirement in multiple installation guides.)
We install a geotextile fabric to help separate native soil from the base materials and reduce weed pressure through the turf system.
We plan clean borders/edging and low-visibility seams, then finish with the right infill for the application (standard silica/quartz sand is commonly recommended to add weight and improve blade resilience).

Caring for Artificial Turf

Artificial turf is low maintenance, but a few simple habits will keep it looking natural and performing well for years.

Periodic brushing helps keep the fibers upright and redistributes infill so the surface doesn’t mat down over time.
Remove leaves, twigs, and debris regularly (a leaf blower or soft rake works well) so organic material doesn’t break down into the turf and affect drainage.
An occasional rinse helps remove dust/pollen and keeps the surface fresh. For pet areas, rinsing helps prevent odours from building up.
Infill can migrate or compact in high-use zones. Keeping infill at the right level improves footing, drainage, and how well the turf blades stand up.
Use mild soap and water (or turf-safe cleaners) for most spots, and avoid harsh chemicals. Also avoid high-pressure sprays that can displace infill and damage fibers.

For artificial turf projects, Marina helps ensure the finished space looks natural and functions properly long-term. That includes site analysis, drainage and grading considerations, and clean transitions between turf areas, garden beds, patios, walkways, and fencing. When needed (especially for larger backyard renovations), she uses Dynascape to produce detailed 2D plans and can help visualize the finished layout in 3D so you can feel confident about the design before installation begins.
